Welcome to our website.

We are a father & son team,  specialising in portable sawmill equipment.
We bring with us 20 years of experience within the sawmilling industry.

We're here to offer you what we believe to be an amazing and unique new
swing blade sawmill design. We call it the TURB-O-SAW.

We have also diversified into the actual processing of timber for our local
market.

Spectrum innovations owns and operates a Turb-o-saw machine and is
partnered with other companies to provide the option to supply dried,
treated and processed  timber.

We believe the timber processing venture offers a number of positives for us.

1) The operation shows that our machine can process timber productively and profitably.

2) We are a new company, this side line venture provides us with the needed start up funds
for our manufacturing business.

3) Running the machine at full production gives us valuable research and design insight.

4) We can provide detailed production rates, fuel consumption, blade life.

5) Live demos are available anytime.

OUR NEW GENERATION MILL WITH PLC (Programmable Logic Control)

Our new design removes problems while at the same time introduces new features.

First off...

1) The new control system has allowed us to remove one of the most important restrictions to accuracy in
the market. We have removed all chains that were previously required to position the saw. These chains
are one of the biggest contributors to inaccuracy in the industry today.

Example... Most saws are connected by a chain loop and shaft. Consider that the far end rail roller rolls
over a sawdust shaving. The near end rolls free. The saw stops half way on this shaving (at the far end)
as this is where it needed to stop. The far end roller had to struggle over the shaving while the near end
roller simply rolled with out restriction.

What this means... The shaft that joins both ends would have developed torsion stress, the far end chain
loop would have had to stretch to overcome the obstacle. Simply put, the far end adjustment is different to
the near end adjustment!

So... Our new system uses powerful hydraulic cylinders at every position point (thats 4-cylinders for each
post). Each cylinder houses a magnetic sensing system such as that found within a vernier caliper.

We have effectively eliminated around 28m (84ft) of chain, around 26 bearings, all shafts and around 17
sprockets in doing so. It makes our new design incredibly clean and simple.

2) Complimentary in removing chains and shafts the new control system now offers  an 'on screen' section
dedicated to aligning one end of the saw independently of the other. We call it taper control.

What this means... Our new design can be set within a couple of seconds to align to the centre core of
your log (prior sawing). This effectively eliminates that 5-10 minutes of setup time where you try and jack
the log up to get it aligned parallel before you start sawing. It also means that you can cut to taper as you
saw (meaning you can cut bad sections away leaving quality parallel cuts).

3) The new version of our computer set work system now includes a ramp up/down system. Meaning for
smaller cuts say 1” the saw will move to its point at a slow speed maintaining 100% accuracy. Should the
sawyer require a 12” wide board the saw will move much faster through 95% of its travels while significantly
decreasing speed when it nears its finishing point to once again ensure 100% accuracy. This feature
alone is a very attractive upgrade as now a number of seconds can be shaved off the process of sizing.

4) Our new control system now has a home feature which means you can preset its nominated position
and call it home. So your just about to start a log (most logs are near enough the same size). Press the
home 'set' button. So now when you finish your log simply press home. The saw will move automatically
back to its starting point ready for the next log!

Say you have a target position where your preferred double cut (double width board 24") would start.
Simply press the home set button.
The saw will move to its selected position automatically.

5) Finally we have now designed our saw to be bolted into sections. This offers a number of advantages.
First off freight has been significantly reduced. We were originally sending the complete saw to the client in
a single 40ft container. This was a very costly exercise. The new saw can be sent in two very small crates
removing this costly scenario. The other advantage is the sawyer may now break down the saw to
transport to the ne
xt milling site (beyond the trailer option).

But the biggest advantage is now you can upgrade in length without buying a completely new saw! We can
send you a section of beam at a later date.
